Source. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW), private-sector annual averages, NAICS 2022, years 2022–2025(final data). Dataset processed October 12, 2026. The same data and definitions as the state profiles; figures on both match. Independently processed; not endorsed by BLS.
Nominal dollars. Pay and wages are not adjusted for inflation, and states differ in cost of living and industry mix, so a higher average is not the same as higher purchasing power. Real (inflation-adjusted) trends would need a price index such as the BLS CPI, which this site does not yet include.
Limits. QCEW counts jobs covered by unemployment insurance, not the self-employed. Averages describe an entire state-industry, not any one company. BLS cautions that QCEW is not designed as a time series; years here share one classification (NAICS 2022). Subsector figures may be withheld, so they will not always add to totals. Not shown: output, value added, or shipments, which need Census data not yet on this site.
